Ecumenical Service for Peace (SeP) takes major Decisions at General Assembly Meeting

Ecumenical Service for Peace (SeP) organized its General Assembly on 16 September 2017 at the Norbert Kenne Memorial Peace House in Nsimeyong Yaounde. The General Assembly meeting saw the participation of over 20 pastors of the Presbyterian Church of Cameroon (PCC) and Eglise Evangelique du Cameroon (EEC), civil society organizations and former workers of Ecumenical Service for Peace.

The meeting was chaired by Pastor Tembeng Emmanuel of the Presbyterian Church, Simbock Parish. The key points of the agenda consisted of:

• A presentation by the Director of the organization, Dr. Ndi Richard Tanto
• A presentation by the Board of Administration
• A financial statement of the organization by the accountant, Evelyn Manda
• General Discussions
• Revamping the Board and staff of the organization

The presentation by the Director captured his tenure at the head of the organization for the last seven years and perspectives while that of the Board presented by Mr. kuemoe Jean defined the role and activities of the Board of administration in overseeing the activities of the organization. The financial report outlined the income and expenditure for 2016.

After the presentations, general discussions followed. Major debates focused on the financial report which was not seen as comprehensive since it was limited to the situation of 2016. A committee was set up to prepare a comprehensive financial report from 2012 when the last financial audit of the organization was carried out. It was agreed that an extra-ordinary General Assembly would be convened to approve of the report and proceed with review of Board membership.

On the subject of a new Director for the organization considering that Dr. Ndi Richard Tanto had announced his intention to leave the organization because of family reasons, a new interim director was nominated in the Person of Fomekung Solomon Hope, and endorsed by the General Assembly. The outgoing Director was asked to work with the new Interim director for a period of 10 days to ensure a smooth transition for the stability of the organization.

In his acceptance speech, Fomekung Solomon Hope thanks the Board for proposing him for the post and the General Assembly for endorsing him. He promised to put his best at the service of the organization and to ensure that the mission and vision of the organization are promoted.

The meeting ended with the satisfaction that a decision had been taken to ensure a smooth transition in leadership and a committee had been set up to prepared a comprehensive report of the finances of the organization. The revamping of the board was shelved for the extra ordinary General Assembly to be convened later.
